Israeli army seizes radio and television equipment

The Israeli army seized equipment from four radio and television stations in the northern West Bank linked to the Islamist Hamas movement on Monday, forcing them off the air, sources said. The army raided the Nablus offices of two television stations, Al-Afaq and Sana, and two radio stations, Jabal Al-Nar and Koran radio, seizing documents and equipment, security sources said. Gamma, another local television station which is not linked to Hamas, was also raided but no equipment was confiscated.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army. Israel has pounded Hamas targets since Wednesday in Gaza in response to an increase in rocket fire from the unruly territory, in attacks that have killed 11 civilians and 21 Hamas militants.
