BBC World News to launch China Business Report in English

"BBC World News soon will launch a China Business Report on the British statecaster's commercial 24-hour international news and information channel. The English-language show about China's increasingly influential economy will be co-produced with Chinese broadcaster Phoenix CNE and U.K. independent company Sibling Eye. 'This is a unique opportunity for BBC World News as it is the first time the channel has sought to transmit a whole program from China,' Paul Gibbs, BBC World News head of programs, said in a statement on Sept. 22. ... BBC World News will be the principal broadcaster, Gibbs said. ... Historically, BBC's reporting on China on occasion has displeased Beijing, where media regulators have moved to block the U.K. broadcasters' Web sites and radio and television broadcasts in China."
