Hello,

Exploring taboo subjects - we like doing that on RNW. But we're not the only ones. Join this week's Africa in Progress to hear how an African multimedia initiative is breaking sexual taboos and helping young people take responsibility for their sexual health.

Africa in Progress

This week: Straight talk about love matters
Africa in Progress often explores taboo subjects: topics that people are not keen to discuss openly; one of them is sexuality. In recent editions, we heard young people talking about what they need to know about sexuality, and we discussed the role of parents and the role of educators.

In this edition, we hear about an African multimedia initiative that is breaking sexual taboos and helping young people take responsibility for their sexual health.

Also on the programma, the story of Christy Raj from India. She was born a female, but she wishes to identify herself as a man. While transgenders in India traditionally have a designated place in society, for people like Christy, life can be very difficult.

(There'll be a new edition of the programme on Thursday 9 June)

First airing: Thursday 14:00 UTC

Global Perspective
Who says I can’t… is the motto of this year’s collaboration of international broadcasters, offering stories of defiance and perseverance.

This week: Who says I can’t escape?

Canada is a nation of immigrants. Its self-image as a safe haven for refugees is a point of national pride. But there is always a gatekeeper, a bureaucrat in an immigration office who says you can - or can’t - come in. And that’s where broadcaster Natasha Fatah begins the story of Eduardo Lopez in her documentary Escape from Honduras, from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

First airing: Monday 17:30 UTC
