Shortwave radiogram schedules, Friday-Sunday

Hello friends,

This week, after months of planning, preparation, and purchases, three new amateur radio antennas were installed on my roof. They are 1) a 10 and 6 meter vertical, 21 feet (6.4 M) tall, 2) a homebrew 10 and 6-meter fan dipole (horizontal), and 3) an omnidirectional horizontal antenna for 2 meters. These join my three existing antennas: 1)  a vertical yagi with three elements each on 2 meters and 70 centimeters, 2) a 40-meter inverted V, and 3) a 160-meter "inverted U" wire antenna that currently tunes on all bands except 160. All six antennas are connected to my one overworked "shack-in-a-box" Yaesu FT897D transceiver.

On 10 meters, my WSPR signals have reached Brazil, French Guiana, Costa Rica, and Hawaii.  Not much has happened yet on 6 and 2 meters, except some local and regional FT8 contacts.

Anyway, moving on to the topic of this email: On this weekend's Shortwave Radiogram, we will continue our demonstrations of MFSK in non-Latin alphabets. This time it will be Russian, consisting of a brief excerpt of a news story from VOA Russian. There will also be English news stories in MFSK32 and MFSK64, including ten MFSK64 images.

A video of last weekend's Shortwave Radiogram (program 207) is provided by Scott in Ontario (Friday 1300 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. An analysis is prepared by Roger in Germany.

Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 208,  10-13 June 2021, in MFSK modes as noted:

 1:44  MFSK32: Program preview
2:52  Excerpt of text from VOA Russian
5:24  LightCube satellite will respond to ham signals
8:36  MFSK64: Inflatable sails can help propel cargo ships*
12:14  This week's images*
27:37  MFSK32: Closing announcements

New York and Pennsylvania NBEMS nets. Most weekends, as KD9XB, I check in to the New York NBEMS (Narrow Band Emergency Messaging Software) net Saturday at 1200 UTC on 3584 kHz USB and the Pennsylvania NBEMS net Sunday at 1130 UTC on 3583 kHz USB. Check-ins are usually in Thor 22, and messages are in MFSK32. Messages generally use the Flmsg add-on to Fldigi. If you are a radio amateur in eastern North America, feel free to check-in. Outside the region, use an SDR in the eastern USA to tune in and decode. You do not need Flmsg to check-in, and most of the messages can be read without Flmsg. If you can decode the net, send me an email to radiogram@verizon.net, or tweet to @SWRadiogram, and I will let them know you are tuned in. USEast NBEMS Net: Please also note the USEast NBEMS Net, Wednesdays 2300 UTC (7 pm EDT) on 3536 kHz USB.

Thanks for your reception reports!
