Update on Encore classical music from Radio Tumbril

 


Tumbril is in France for three weeks being fed various bits of lightly grilled dead animal, limp vegetables, and hitherto undreamt of quantities of fine wines.
There will be no bulletins until the end of September and email responses will be delayed.
 
EACH NEW ENCORE WILL NOW BE BROADCAST FOR TWO WEEKS
 
THE SUNDAY BROADCAST ON 3955 kHz is now at 1900 UTC (Not 2100 UTC).

01:00 - 02:00 UTC Sunday 7730 & 5850 kHz WRMI to Europe US and Canada
16:00 – 17:00 UTC Sunday 9670 kHz Channel 292 to Europe
19:00 - 20:00 UTC Sunday 3955 kHz Channel 292 to Europe
02:00 - 03:00 UTC Monday 5950 kHz WRMI to the US and Canada
13:00 - 14:00 UTC Tuesday 15770 kHz WRMI to Europe, east coast of US and Iceland. (Sometimes RTTY on the lower sideband. Suggest notch out or use USB.)
19:00 – 20:00 UTC Friday 6070 kHz Channel 292 to Europe

THIS FORTNIGHT"S PROGRAMME - (First broadcast last FRIDAY by WRMI at 0200 UTC on 5850, (and 2000 UTC on 15770) and then Channel 292 on SATURDAY at 10:00 UTC on 6070 and 9670 kHz):
Starts with a military field recording and continues with Summer Evening Waltz by Oskar Merikanto. Then there is a recording of the tenor Richard Tauber from the 1930s. 
A Brandenburg Concerto from J S Bach and a contemporary partita for eight voices follow on. A longish piece next - The Isle of the Dead tone poem by Rachmaninoff, after which Katherine Jenkins will sing us a couple of songs from the operas. 
The programme ends with the Prelude from the ballet Coppélia by Delibes.
 
ON 8TH SEPTEMBER - The next fortnight's cycle begins - see the playlist on www.tumbril.co.uk:
The programme starts with several movements from a Telemann horn concerto, then some of Mozart's Piano Concerto in G Major, followed by three songs from Schubert's song cycle Die Schöne Müllerin.
The second half of the hour has a Chopin Ballade and part of Beethoven's Symphony No. 3.
