Radio Netherlands Worldwide weekly program preview January 5-11
Welcome to our weekly guide to Radio Netherlands Worldwide's English Service - a list of the new programmes coming up on Radio Netherlands Worldwide this week, beginning on Saturday.
SATURDAY 5 JANUARY*** The State We're In ***
In the first The State We're In of 2008, we report from Cambodia where a United Nations-backed tribunal is now preparing to try the last surviving Khmer Rouge leaders. But with many young Cambodians unaware of their crimes and many of their parents sceptical that the mixed international-Cambodian court will be effective, will the trials serve a useful purpose? We report.
We also speak with two filmmakers who made documentaries about people they knew, were even related to, and discovered that they actually knew nothing about them at all.
And we invite three of the world's leading human rights organisations into our studio to find out what issues they consider to be the most important in 2008.
These stories and many more in this week's The State We're In.
