Texas Radio Shortwave set to celebrate Six Years

Don't miss the two broadcasts on this special occasion!

Texas Radio Shortwave is celebrating its sixth anniversary on Friday, November 28, 2025.
.
2000 UTC on 3975 kHz to Europe from ShortwaveRadio in Winsen, Germany, transmitting with 1 kW into a crossed dipole antenna

2300 UTC on 9670 from Channel 292 in Rohbach, Germany, transmitting with 10.5 kW into a 10.5 dB gain beam antenna.

Texas Radio Shortwave uses a version of The Yellow Rose of Texas as its interval. signature song.

Texas Radio Shortwave turns six years old this Friday, November 28, and we’re celebrating in style.  We’ve rerecorded our very first broadcast, this time with higher-quality versions of the original music and refreshed announcements.

Our inaugural show aired via North American pirate station Radio GaGa, back before we settled on a regular music format.  It’s an eclectic mix—two Texas artists in the set, plus a grab-bag of songs we just liked.  Artists include Gary P. Nunn, Tom Petty, Green Day, Jethro Tull, and The Specials.

Listen to Texas Radio Shortwave from Anywhere in the World
Texas Radio Shortwave broadcasts via ShortwaveRadio and Channel 292 in Germany. We know reception can sometimes be tricky outside Europe—but don’t worry, there’s an easy solution.

Use a free remote European receiver.

If your own radio can’t quite pick us up, tune in through one of these online software-defined radio (SDR) receivers:
• Weston-super-Mare, UK – Our favorite! The owner welcomes TRSW listeners.

• University of Twente, Netherlands – A reliable and popular choice.

For U.S. listeners:
You can often hear our late-night (UTC) Channel 292 broadcast on 9670 kHz using a receiver in rural Maryland, USA, hosted by N5RTC.

Reception reports welcome!

Bonus QSLs:

Veteran listeners may recall we missed a fourth-anniversary show in 2023. To make up for it, three listeners who report Friday’s broadcast will be randomly selected to receive an Imaginary Fourth Anniversary QSL in addition to their sixth-anniversary card. These three special cards will bring the total number of 2023 imaginary QSLs to five, out of almost 4,000 QSLs issued since we started.
Of almost 4,000 QSLs issued since we started.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone—and thanks for six great years of listening!

Whether you listen on your own radio or through a remote SDR, we’re happy to verify your reports. Please email texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com

New Year broadcast from Radio Victoria

Germany -  Radio Victoria Shortwave-Revival 2024.

In the 1980's for numerous shortwave listeners in German-speaking Europe, this station was a part of their youth. For some, it was even a small footprint on the path to private broadcasting in Germany.

Radio Victoria, the "independent shortwave music station", comes sponsored by a former member of the "Victoria Listener Club" back on shortwave with a revival broadcast of the four-hour annual hit parade from 1984 and station operator Roger Kirk, who died in 2012 year.

Once broadcasted on Radio Milano International in the 41 meter band over the turn of the year 1984/1985, after forty years now again 2024/2025 relayed via Shortwave Gold from Winsen-Aller in Northern Germany on 6160 kHz and this exactly on the analog broadcast days and times - with the quasiirst broadcast on Boxing Day and the two repetitions on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day:

December 31, 2024 from 09:00 UTC to 13:00 UTC
January   1, 2025 from 09:00 UTC to 13:00 UTC

1405 | Ah, here we are!
with Christian Milling
As early as May 2020 we wanted to go "on air" with the Eifeler Radiotage - then Corona came and postponed our broadcasting request year after year. But now it's finally time to say "Oh, here we are!". Our prelude to 50 hours of handmade bunker radio brings pop music, but easy on the ears and nerves!

1605 | Original and fake
with Dagmar Fulle
"Twist And Shout" is by The Beatles, "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin and "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes? Yes, yes. As well. But they are not originals. We dig up the sometimes completely unknown and unsuccessful original versions of big hits and, looking at it the other way round, we clarify the question of what the Baskerville dog has to do with Ozzy Osbourne.

2000 | Night music
with Jürgen Kolb and Andreas Knedlik
No small, but big night music. Four hours of music only has an effect when the moon is in the night sky. Love songs, calm sounds, spherical sounds - and a bit of horror at the witching hour.

Saturday, May 13, 2023
0000 | Night Express
with Markus Fischer
A humorous music program with hits from Europe and around the world. Car radio hits from the 70s and 80s and new music from today. For a trip in the car, on the train or in bed to dream.

0400 | Morgenexpress – A musical train journey
with Erich Wartusch
A train journey across Europe. Musically, we only head for cities that can be reached by a direct connection. Transfer not allowed!

0600 | Record flea market
with Alexander Täuschel and Tim Rebhan
Tim & Alexander serve and comment on exquisite, all too rarely heard pearls of pop history from 1975 to 1995.

0805 | Instrumental treasures
with Hans Neuhaus
intros, film music, classics

1010 | Hits that weren't / O(h)ne hit wonder
with Christian Milling
The melody is catchy, the song has hit potential. But it never really caught on with the audience or got lost in the lower places of the hit lists. Failed marketing or maybe too ahead of its time? Exactly: Hits that weren't.

1105 | The wonderful world of onomatopoeia
with Christian Milling
Onomatopoeia, i.e. the “reproduction of natural sounds or similar. through tonally similar linguistic sounds” also found its way into various pieces of music. 55 minutes of wonderful things in the field of tension between "Da Da Da", "Ratatata", "Ugatschakkauguugaugatschakka", "Ding-Dong", "Schla-Ba-Di-Bab-Di-Ba" and "Di-Au-Au-Ohhhhh- Yeaaaah".

1205 | History of electronic music
with Rudi Kauls
100 years of electronic music - a story with many music examples.

1405 | Professor Pop & Dr. Soul
with Hans Neuhaus and Jost Alpe
Retro radio show with gems from music history

1605 | The ringing deletion list
with Ulrich Bessler and Martin Schlabs
Between ingenious and creepy: what strange "German original versions" of some well-known hits the listener had to withstand.

1805 | Music is in the air
with Peter Sturm
A selection that suits the cultivated evening hour. Whether it's the often misunderstood easy listening or swing and sweet, modern folk music, crooners, jazz ladies, trio jazz and and and... Let yourself be surprised and take two hours into bygone radio times!

2000 | Grand Prix nostalgia
with Markus Fischer and Erich Wartusch
While this year's “Grand Prix” at the Eurovision Song Contest is being sung about in Liverpool that evening, we take a tongue-in-cheek look at the successes and failures of the past years.

2200 | Night music
with Jürgen Kolb and Andreas Knedlik
No small, but big night music. Two hours of music only has an effect when the moon is in the night sky. Love songs, calm sounds, spherical sounds.

Sunday, May 14, 2023
0000 | Film music to dream
with Rainer Hagedorn
At a late hour, the Eifel Radio Days immerse themselves in the dream world of the cinema. You can hear fantastic music from the films in the James Bond series, the Inspector Clouseau films and the Fantomas trilogy. Unique and distinctive score by Henry Mancini, Jerry Goldsmith and Ennio Morricone. The matching images will appear automatically in your dreams.

0200 | Night express
with Markus Fischer
A moody music program with hits from Europe and around the world. Car radio hits from the 70s and 80s and new music from today. For a trip in the car, on the train or in bed to dream.

0400 | Radio alarm clock
with Hans Neuhaus and Jost Alpe
Information and entertainment on Sunday morning

0600 | Country breakfast
with Erich Wartusch
Sunday gets going with country music. It doesn't matter whether it's classics, bluegrass or songs from unusual country countries. Not only country fans get their money's worth in these two hours.

0805 | Uwe's Rockkiste
with Uwe Pagels
Hand-picked rock pearls and rarities from music history, compiled and commented on by music expert Uwe Pagels.

1105 | German lesson

1205 | Cuddling with Rudi
with Rudi Kauls

1305 | 80s treasure chest
with Alexander Täuschel
“Do you remember him?” With Alexander Täuschel, you will travel through the 80s and rediscover delicate finds from a brilliant musical decade.

1405 | Boogie box music
with Rainer Hagedorn
Whether it's big TV shows like "Dalli-Dalli" and "Wetten Dass", crime series like "The Streets of San Francisco" and "Miami Vice" or even family series like "The Denver Clan" and "The Waltons": you all had extremely distinctive signature music. A few bars of this music are often enough to immediately trigger memories of the program in question. At the Eifeler Radiotage there is a re-listening with the most beautiful recognition tunes from the boob tube. Without the picture, but in full length.

Tilford Production Announces Farewell to Europe Special Marathon

Farewell To Europe Special Marathon
Channel 292, 6070 kHz
March 8, 0800-2400 CET (0700-2300 UTC)

From "Uncle Bill" Tilford, producer and host of From the Isle of Music and Uncle Bill's Melting Pot:

Personal financial circumstances beyond my control recently made it necessary for me to discontinue broadcasts of my programs from stations in Europe, and Channel 292 has made the wonderful gesture of throwing us a going-away party - a 16-hour marathon of some of our favorite From the Isle of Music and Uncle Bill's Melting Pot episodes on 6070 kHz on March 8 from 0800-2400 CET (0700-2300 UTC).

Working with the station and interacting with its listeners has been a joy these past few years,  and I am deeply humbled by this act of generosity. I hope to be able to return to broadcasting from Europe some day. In the meantime, I have personally selected some favorite episodes of both shows from the past few years for this special event.

Let us make the most of this bittersweet moment.

Follow German election from Deutsche Welle

Germany votes on the 26th of September!

Every four years a new federal government is elected in Germany and now the time has come again. In order to be well prepared for the upcoming elections, we would like to introduce you to our programs that will keep you informed about it.
If you always have been interested in Germany and its politics – DW offers something for you in our special website! With a little luck, you also could win a great prize!
Even though it is not clear which political party will emerge as the winner of the election, one thing is for sure: There will be a new chancellor. After 16 years Angela Merkel will resign and not run for office again. On this occasion you will be able to follow the live premiere of our documentation "Angela Merkel – Navigating a World in Crisis" on the 17th of September on our YouTube Channel DW Documentary. From September 19th, the film can also be seen on DW English.
You also can check out the documentation "Impatient, Dissatisfied, Divided? - Germans at the End of Merkel's Grand Coalition." on DW Docfilm.
Or listen to our podcast "Merkels last dance", where each episode is dealing with one of the problems Angela Merkel faced during her periods of governance.
There will be rolling news coverage about the German election from 3:00pm UTC to 9:00pm UTC on DW English. Including a live broadcasting event called "Elefanten-Runde" in the evening of the election on DW Deutsch+ and DW English from 6:15pm to 7:15pm UTC where politicians from different parties will answer questions from journalists. Additionally, on the 27th of September DW will broadcast news in the morning containing a debate “To the point” at 8:30am UTC about the election.
And if you have had enough of debating politicians, check out our series "Flipping The Script". Here it is not the politicians but the voters who are showing up on stage to debate the most important questions.
Here you can find more information about the DW program on TV and live stream.
Win a special prize!
And we have also come up with something special for you: Answer the following question and with little luck win a Germany-DW-Package! Follow here to enter our quiz! Best of luck!
