Finland: RealMix starts medium wave broadcasts on Saturday!

The broadcasts will be heard on the 1485 kHz AM frequency in Raasepori, in addition to the familiar shortwave frequency of 6005 kHz.

During the testing phase, the transmission power is 15 watts.

In the plans for October, the power will be increased to 250 watts, which will improve the signal range.

Radio Igloo's Christmas specials on shortwave

Next Sunday, December 14, Radio Igloo will be on air with our brand new Christmas program. Tune in to 1620 kHz (or a nearby free frequency) at 19:00 UTC for our new Christmas show.

We will be playing Christmas songs that you don't hear every day on other radio stations or in large supermarkets. We will also talk a bit about special (strange?) Swedish Christmas traditions.

On December 21, with assistance from Finland's Real Mix Radio, we will broadcast on 6195 kHz at 17:00 UTC

As always, correct reports, preferably with an audio clip of your reception, will be rewarded with our brand new e-QSL to radioigloo@gmail.com  (NorDX)

Weekend broadcasts from Jim's Trance Journey

 

Three opportunities to tune in to our November programme this weekend!

 

On Saturday November 8th, you can find us on RealMix Radio on 6195kHz at 11:00UTC and again at 19:00UTC.

 

On Sunday November 9th, 9th we'll be on Channel 292 on 9670kHz at 11:00UTC.

 

Email QSLs will be sent out for all reception reports - but please allow up to 2 weeks for receipt! Response last month was far greater than expected, for which I say - THANK YOU.

Sunny Jim's Trance Journey - where there's more to music than the songs we already know... Or - put another way - an attempt by this senior citizen (well - 68 yrs old) to try and  persuade people that there are still many well-crafted, euphoric, melodic and moving songs being produced today! It would appear that I'm running at around a 50% success rate with my persuasion - that will do nicely..!

RealMix Radio is an interesting station! Set up 19 months ago by Joakim Weckstrom after obtaining a shortwave license to transmit from Finland.

RealMix Radio, which broadcast on  6195 kHz, is back on the air this weekend, October 4,5, 2025. 

During the station's recent autumn break, both the technology and the station's software got an overhaul!

Finland's RadioRealMix slated for weekend broadcast

 

"According to the new radio license, regular Finland's RealMix Radio broadcasts will be heard again in February on Saturdays and Sundays and the entire last week of February on the frequency 6185 kHz at 0000-2100 UTC

During the spring, maybe (if the economy allows) we will get 250W transmission power, which would improve the signal strength. (Nowadays 100W carrier)

On Sunday July 7, 2024, RealMix Radio will broadcast for 24 hours as a DX Test, with a 100W transmitter, carrier power (400W pep)

The broadcast will be on 6195 kHz from Raasepori, southern Finland!
