France selects DRM as standard for digital AM

The French Government has announced that it has selected Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) as the sole standard for the digitization of the bands AM in France. T-DMB will be used on Band III (currently used for analogue broadcasts of Canal+) and Band L. The organization which has been campaigning for DRM in France, L’Association pour la Radio Numérique DR (Digital Radio), says that the decision to adopt a multi-standard system shows that the authorities want to make the radio of the future accessible in a technically and economically acceptable way.
