WRN, the international transmission service provider, is assisting the Voice of Russia, Russia’s state-owned radio station, to broadcast daily programmes in local languages to listeners across Afghanistan via FM relays.
The daily shows from the Voice of Russia are produced in the local Dari and Pashto languages and can be heard on 88.0 FM in Kabul, Herat and Jalalabad between 0900 -1000 and 1400 -1500 local Kabul Time. WRN has brokered the airtime on behalf of the Voice of Russia with one of Afghanistan’s largest media groups, as well as delivering the content and monitoring playout.
Mrs Rashel Staviskaya, Voice of Russia’s Vice Chairman, says: “Our programmes offer audiences in Afghanistan the opportunity to hear about Moscow’s relations with the Islamic world, Russian-Afghan relations, current events in Russia and the life of the sizeable Afghan community in the Russian Federation.”
These new relays in Afghanistan come only a few months after WRN assisted the Voice of Russia with the launch of local FM relays in Israel which are broadcasting its daily two hour show for the country’s substantial Russian-speaking community.
