FRSH plans broadcast on 30 October

The wait is almost over: on Sunday, October 30th 09.52 CET sharp, the Free Radio Service Holland will be back on the airwaves celebrating 42 years of independent free radio on shortwave.

On Sunday October 30th, the Free Radio Service Holland will take to the airwaves celebrating 42 years of shortwave free radio. 

On this occasion, programmes will commence at 08:52 UTC/ 09:52 CET and close down will be at 13:35 UTC/ 14:35 CET . Following close down the full programming might be repeated (if so only on 7700 and/or 9335 kHz!). Programmes will be aired on 7700//9335 and 6185 kHz. . 

Expect the familiar FRS format: great music, various (surprising) radio-related items, FRS memories, listener's mail and of course DX news. We haven't included details in the programme schedule below because...we'd like to surprise you!

Because of the high number of letters/ e-mails we received following our July/August Summer Splash, our good old International Listeners' Letter Show will be revived for this occasion! In the 1980s it used to be part of our programming. Mike Taylor who used to do the Mailbag Show on E.M.R., will host the I.L.L.S. Tune in on Sunday, October 30th...it will be great Sunday entertainment and more than worthwhile! 

And: for this special occasion only, a brand new QSL card is available, printed in full colour on heavy high quality paper.

Free Radio Service Holland's October 23 Schedule

Following a successful summer evening broadcast in August, we plan the start of a new broadcasting season, on Sunday October 23. FRS-Holland will be heard across Europe on 31 meters on 9300 (stand by frequency 9335 kHz) // 7700 kHz.

In addition FRS will be on 6070 kHz in the afternoon. The five hour evening will include the usual ingredients: great music, numerous items including the Day Calendar and radio related items.

Choosing for ‘the best of both worlds’ FRSH goes for broadcasting on short wave in AM and digital high quality web streaming. Listeners can make their choice out of two streams.

QSL-cards: Understandably reception reports and letters with comments are much appreciated and will be verified with a QSL card from our current series ‘FRS through the Years’. Each QSL of this series shows an 'element' which played an important part in FRS' 36 year life.

Free Radio Service-Holland set for March 20 broadcast

On Sunday March 20, 2016, FRS-Holland will hit the shortwave airwaves.

Programmes will last all day and begin at 08:52 UTC/ 09:52 CEST with no less than five hours of music and information. FRS will offer you a varied offer of progarms and no doubt it will be worth your while to tune in our way.
A Sunday full of music, information and radio related items....the 'old fashioned' true sound of short wave free radio. Frequencies will be 9300 and 7700 kHz throughout the day and 6070 kHz in the afternoon.

May we take this opportunity to tell you that any mail or snail mail is more than welcome. Remember your support (letters, mails, reception reports) is our reward and thus very important. Without support the motivation to produce an FRS Sunday with all the ingredients would be much less. It's the listeners that keep us going...please keep that in mind.

We'd like to focus on the subject of reception reports. In recent months we have been aware that there's a great difference in the quality of reports. Some reports are well written and contain all the 'elements' any report should include (including various programme details). Unfortunately we also receive two or three line reports in which some 'elements' are completely missing. We'd like to stress, that we very much like to issue our QSL cards but not in the case that reports are incomplete! In this way we would refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reception_report. It is very simple!  Especially some of the  listeners should be aware that details doesn't mean 'presenter' or 'pop music' but the name of the presenter, show and record/artist.
