February amateur radio events planned


6V, Senegal
Giovanni, I5JHW, is active as 6V7V from La Somone until February 23rd. Activity is holiday style (However, he was in the CQ WPX RTTY Contest this past weekend), and most of his operations have been on 20 meters SSB. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.

8P, Barbados
Yuri, VE3DZ, will be active as 8P9AA between February 15-23rd. Activity will be on all HF bands using CW, SSB and RTTY. His activity will also include the ARRL International DX CW Contest (February 20-21st) using the callsign 8P3A as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL
via his home callsign.

9H, Malta
(IOTA Op). Operators Olaf/DL4HG and Holger/DL5XAT will be active as 9H3TX during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 20-21st) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via LoTW or via DL5XAT, by the Bureau or direct. Operators will be there between February 17-24th. QTH is Gozo Island (IOTA EU-023, MIA MM-004, WLOTA LH-0046). They will only be using 100
watts into vertical antennas.

9X, Rwanda
Operators Rudi/DK7PE and Georg/DK7LX are now active as 9X0CW and 9X0LX, respectively, in Kigali until February 18th. Rudy informs OPDX that they are running only wire antennas. Georg is concentrating on the higher bands and Rudy on 160m, using an Inverted Vee and a Pennant for RX. This is mainly a CW operation. QSNs show most on the activity has been
on 160 and 30 meters. QSL via their home callsigns.

Antarctic Activity Week

C3, Andorra
Members of the "Andorran Amateur Radio Union (URA)" will team up with Spanish hams from the "Group Soria Contest Soria (URE)" and the "Union Radio Friends Soria (URASO)" to be active as C37NL during the CQWW 160M SSB Contest (February 26-28th). Carlos, EA1DVY, is the team leader. Activity is to celebrate 30th anniversary of the "Radio- aficionats Andorrans". QSL via C37URA. C6, Bahamas
Steve, AK0M, will be active as C6ASB from the Grand Bahama Island (NA-080) between February 16-22nd. He is one of many operating from the Bahamas for the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 27-28th). Operations will be holiday style and will include a part-time entry in the contest as a Single-Op/All-Band/QRP category. Bands will be 40-10 meters, and
operation will be primarily CW. Power will be 10w outside of the contest, and at 5w during the contest. QSL via LoTW, or via AK0M by the Bureau or direct w/SASE. Visit his Web page at:

CR3/CT9, Madeira Islands
German operators Walter/DJ6QT, Falk/DK7YY, Wolfgan/DK9VZ, Hein/DL2OBF, om/DL5LYM, Juergen/DL6WT and Frank/DL8WAA will be active as CR3L during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 20-21st) as a Multi-? entry. QSL via DJ6QT. Operators will probably be active as CT9/homecall before and after the contest.

KP2, U.S. Virgin Islands
Operators John/K3CT and John/K3TEJ will be active as KP2/homecall from St. Croix between February 17-24th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. Look for KP2M during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 20-21st) as a Multi-? entry. QSL
KP2M via AI4U. All other QSLs via their home callsigns.

P2, Papua New Guinea
Paju, YO5BIM, will be active as P29VIM until February 21st. Activity will be on 30-6 meters using CW and SSB. He was spotted this past weekend mainly on 30 meters. He will be active mostly during his evenings. QSL via his home callsign or per his instructions.

VK9X, Christmas Island
Just a reminder that Phil/G3SWH and Jim/G3RTE will be active as VK9X/G6AY from Christmas Island between February 20-27th. Christmas Island counts as OC-002 for IOTA purposes. The 2009 "Most Wanted" survey by the DX Magazine shows Christmas Island at #68 worldwide for DXCC purposes. Their activity will be on CW only on all bands 80-10 meters. There will be no 160 meters activity. Propagation permitting, they plan to have two stations on the air for as many hours every day as is possible. Their main objective is to work as many European, North American and RoTW stations on as many bands as possible. QSL via G3SWH,
either direct with SAE and adequate return postage (recommended), via Phil's Web site for a Bureau reply or by the Bureau. There will be an online log that will be updated daily at:

XR2, Chile
(Lighthouse Activity). Operators Hector/CE3FZL, Ricardo/CE3HDI, Hugo/CE3BBC, Cristian/CE3PCN and Esteban/XQ7UP will activate Punta Angeles Lighthouse (ARLHS CHI-001) in Valparaiso harbor as XR2A during the the South American Lighthouse Weekend (February 26-28th). XU7, Cambodia
Look for Peter, NO2R, to be active as XU7ACY from Sihanouk Ville during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 20-21st) as a Single-Op/ Lower-Power entry. Peters states that he will be on all bands if he gets the C3 up in time. QSL via W2EN.

February amateur radio special events news

Kenya
5Z. Enrico, 5Z4ES, Frank, IK8TEO, Tony, IK8UHA and Antonio, IK8VRH are QRV as 5Z0H until February 25. This includes activity from islands Wasini, IOTA AF-067, and Lamu, IOTA AF-040. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY with two stations
active simultaneously. QSL via IK8VRH.

Trinidad and Tobago
9Y. Mike, DF8AN is QRV as 9Y4/homecall from Tobago, IOTA SA-009, until February 22. Activity is on the HF bands using mostly CW. QSL to home call.

China
BY. David, BA4DW/4 is QRV from Changxing Island, IOTA AS-136, until February 19 operating holiday style. QSL to home call.

Morocco
CN. Special event station 5E50SA is QRV until February 28 during the 50th anniversary of the devastating earthquake which destroyed the Moroccan city of Agadir 50 years ago. QSL via EA7FTR.

Iran
EP. Mohammad, EP4MRG has been QRV on 20 meters using SSB between 1100 and 1300z. QSL to home call.

Grenada
J3. Bill, K4LTA is QRV as J37BO until March 3. In addition, he and NK4N will be QRV as J38A as a Multi/Single entry in the upcoming ARRL DX CW contest. QSL both calls via K4LTA.

Dominica
J7. Steve, KL7SB is QRV as J79SB until February 18. Activity is on the HF bands using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via NI5DX.

U.S. Virgin Islands
KP2. John, K3CT and John, K3TEJ will be QRV as KP2/homecalls from February 17 to 24. They will be active as KP2M in the upcoming ARRL DX CW contest. Before and after the contest
they will be active on all bands using CW, RTTY and PSK31. QSL KP2/K3CT via K3CT, KP2/K3TEJ via K3TEJ and KP2M via AI4U.

Papua New Guinea
P2. Puiu, YO5BIM is QRV as P29VIM until February 21. Activity is on 20 meters and above using CW and SSB. He is active mostly during his evenings. QSL to home call.

Bonaire, Curacao
PJ2. Roger, N4RR is QRV as PJ4/homecall from Bonaire, IOTA SA-006, until February 15. Activity is on all bands using CW and RTTY. He will be active as PJ4R as a Single Op/All
Band/Low Power entry in the CQ WW WPX RTTY contest. QSL both calls to home call.

Belize
V3. AA4NC will be QRV as V31RR from February 17 to 23. Activity will be on 30, 17 and 12 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. This includes an entry in the upcoming ARRL DX CW contest. QSL via AI4U.

Australia
VK. Bill, VK4FW will be QRV as VK8MM from Groote Eylandt, IOTA OC-141, beginning February 14 for possibly 7 days. He will be active using mainly CW. QSL to home call.

Mexico
XE. Yahir, XE2JA/XF1 and possibly other operators are QRV from Alcatraz Island, IOTA NA-167, until February 14. Activity is on 80 to 15 meters using SSB and RTTY, and Satellite activity on AO-51, AO-27 and SO-50. QSL via EA5XC.

Cambodia
XU. Wim, ON6NP, Wim, ON6TZ and Peter, XU7ACY are QRV as XU7KOH from Koh Russei Island, IOTA AS-133, until February 16. They will later be joined by ON4AFU and F5PAC. QSL via ON7PP.

Nicaragua
YN. Look for operators K8DD, AC8W, KB8TXZ and N8LJ to be QRV as YN2DD, YN2WW, YN2TX and YN2LJ, respectively, from February 16 to 25. Activity will be on all HF bands using CW, SSB and RTTY. This includes an entry in the upcoming ARRL DX CW contest as a
