Observations from Lao National Radio

6130, Lao National Radio, Vientiane, monitoring from about 1415-1430 (the start and end of the programs varies by 1-3 min.):
Su Apr 20 – non-stop talking in assume Laotian (scheduled "Virtue Program"?).
Mo Apr 21 – English language lesson, in English with assume Laotian translations throughout the program.
Tu Apr 22 – English language lesson, in English with assume Laotian translations throughout the program.
We Apr 23 – French language lesson, unlike the English lessons, heard only in French, played some songs in French.
Th Apr 24 – French language lesson, unlike the English lessons, heard only in French, played some songs in French.

This corresponds well with their listed schedule at their website. Would seem that my Sa receptions (Mar 29 and Apr 05) of English language lessons (programs "New Dynamic English" and "Functioning in Business") were anomalies for that day. The daily reception varied, but were mostly fair to poor. (Ron Howard, CA)

Lao National Radio external service available online

The external service of state broadcaster Lao National Radio has now made its English and Lao programmes available on its website at www.lnr.org.la.
The broadcaster has had some audio content available on its website for some time, however consisting of just specific news items in English, Lao, Hmong and French. This remains the case for the latter two languages, but now the entire English and Lao programmes for the current and previous few days are available on demand.
It’s not clear if the station still broadcasts on shortwave. Only their 97.25 MHz FM frequency is announced in the English programme, but the 7145 kHz shortwave frequency is still mentioned in their ‘About Us’ page.
