Radio St. Helena slated for annual November broadcast

Radio St. Helena Day 2009 will be on Saturday, 14. November 2009 on 11092.5 USB. The annual Party On-The-Air, will have the following schedule.

All times UTC
2000–2100 targeted to India and Southeast Asia
2100–2200 targeted to Japan and Asia
2200–2330 targeted to Europe
2330–0100 targeted to North America, Central America and the Caribbean

Radio St. Helena is very pleased to announce that the newly designed RSD 2009 QSL cards will be sponsored by the Japan Short Wave Club. This news has been reported by Mr. T. Ohtake of the JSWC. It can truly be said, that without the very generous help of the JSWC, there would not have been a RSD Revival in 2006.

To get a QSL from Radio St. Helena, you must send a written and verifiable reception report by airmail and include sufficient return postage. Email-reports will be not be verified. Recordings will not be returned. In European countries, please send a 5-Euro banknote. Otherwise, please send three or more US dollar banknotes to cover the required return postage.

Emails and telephone calls from DXers everywhere are very welcome during the broadcasts. A special email address for RSD 2009 will, probably, be announced in October.

Gary Walters and his Team at RSH wish everyone excellent listening conditions, hope that you enjoy the programming, and hope that the sunspots will be kinder to us this year.

Radio St. Helena Receives Letters From DXers
Gary Walters, Radio St. Helena
via Robert Kipp

In an email on 29 January 2009, Gary Walters, the RSH Station Manager, commented on the amount of mail regarding Radio St Helena Day 2008 and, indirectly, about the success of the "new" postal route.

"RSH Station Manager, Gary Walters, is pleased to announce that, between 14 and 19 January 2009, Radio St. Helena received 266 letters from Dxers around the world containing reports of the recent Radio St Helena Day shortwave transmission , which was held on the 15th of November 2008.

Staff at Radio St Helena will immediately set to work, when we have received the new QSL cards.

Gary and his staff send their best greetings to all DXers around the world and many thanks for their letters of appreciation."

The new RSD 2008 QSL cards have been printed and have arrived in Germany. The cards will be sent to St. Helena very soon, but it will take up to three months for the cards to arrive at RSH. Therefore, DXers should not expect to find their QSLs in the mail before about July 2009.
