Texas Radio Shortwave Tests for Europe on May 18 and 21

earlier QSLfrom Texas Radio Shortwave

On Sunday, May 18, and Wednesday, May 21, we'll test to Europe over Shortwave Radio (shortwaveradio.de).

We want reports comparing the reception of the two frequencies each day and between Sunday and Wednesday, since the broadcasts are at different times.  If you have time, note how Channel 292 is received on 3955 and 6070 kHz.

We'll have a nice QSL for correct reception reports, and maybe some other goodies if you send a really detailed report.

Texas Radio Shortwave slated for test broadcast

TEXAS RADIO SHORTWAVE TEST BROADCASTS – MARCH 1-2 ON 6070 KHZ & 9670 KHZ

Listener Reports Needed!

In addition to our regular monthly programs, we’ll conduct test broadcasts to improve our reach. Listener reports are crucial in determining whether we should adjust our schedule for April and beyond.

Test Schedule:

6070 kHz – Europe
Saturday, March 1, at 1600 UTC
Sunday, March 2, at 1200 UTC
Purpose: We are considering replacing 3955 kHz due to severe audio interference from another transmitter at Channel 292. If 6070 kHz provides better reception, we’ll make the switch.

9670 kHz – North America
Sunday, March 2, at 2300 UTC

Purpose: We are considering replacing our early-morning UTC transmissions with late-night ones if the latter provides better reception.

Listener Reports & Special QSL Cards

We’ll issue a unique verification for accurate reports on these test transmissions and our standard QSL for regular programming. We don’t know what the test QSL will look like, but we promise it will be a great addition to your collection!

To submit a report, listen for at least 20 minutes and email your reception details to texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com.

Your feedback is essential in shaping our future broadcasts. Thanks for tuning in and supporting Texas Radio Shortwave!

Texas Radio Shortwave on August 11

Texas Coloring Book QSL

Propagation conditions were terrible for the August 5th test, so we’re trying again using a beam heading different from the one we use for our regular monthly program to NAm.  The broadcast will come from Channel 292, Rohrbach, Germany, with 10 kW power into a 10.5 dB gain beam antenna at 0300 UTC

We’ll test beam heading “S” to see if it delivers a good signal to the West Coast and Western Canada. It should also deliver a signal to Pacific listeners, who are encouraged to send us a report.

The transmission will be our standard Yellow Rose of Texas format with 24 versions of the song.  Our signal will be easy to find!

If you can, we’d like you to use your home receiver and as many SDRs as possible in the target areas and provide SINPO readings (and maybe an audio clip or two).

We know this will be a lot of work. Thank you for working with us to provide the best coverage for NAm listeners.

A new QSLs will be available for correct, detailed reception reports, including a SINPO or SIO rating.  If you try and don’t hear us, let us know, and we’ll send you a souvenir card, which will be a nice addition to your collection.   Reports from listeners using remote receivers, called SDRs, are welcome.

Our address is texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com

We'll issue Texas Coloring Book QSL #7 for correct, detailed reception reports to texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com.

Texas Radio Shortwave to air August 4

Beginning August 4, Texas Radio Shortwave, will beam a monthly program to North America at 0100 UTC on 9670 kHz.  Transmissions will come from Channel 292, Rohrbach, Germany.

In November, the broadcast time will change to 0200 UTC.

TRSW offers a new specially designed verification every month to listeners who email correct, detailed reception reports to texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com. Reports from listeners using remote receivers (SDRs) are welcomed.

August 4, 2024
In addition to its regularly scheduled monthly broadcast beamed to North America on August 4, TRSW will test different beam headings on the other days to see if it can provide a good signal to a more significant part of the continent.
These broadcasts will come from Channel 292, Rohrbach, Germany, with 10 kW power into a 10.5 dB gain beam antenna.

As you can see, we use the heading “R” for our scheduled monthly broadcasts. This gets our signal into the Northeastern US, the upper Midwest, parts of Canada, and even Utah and BC.
We’re testing heading “P” to see how well it covers the East Coast and Mexico and heading “S” to see if it puts a good signal into the West Coast and Western Canada.
We think the solution could be headings “P” and “S” at the times shown in the schedule, but we need your help to confirm that.
If you can, we’d like you to use your home receiver and as many SDRs as possible in the target areas and provide SINPO readings (and maybe an audio clip or two).
We know this will be a lot of work.
Thank you for working with us to provide the best coverage for North American listeners.
New QSLs will be available for correct, detailed reception reports, including a SINPO or SIO rating.  If you try and don’t hear us, let us know, and we’ll send you a souvenir card, which will be a nice addition to your collection.
Reports from listeners using remote receivers, called SDRs, are welcome.
