SATURDAY 2 OCTOBER

The last bomb: Kevin Ivison defused bombs for the British Army in Iraq. He dismantled his last bomb on the day his best friend was blown up. He tells Jonathan what it was like to confront the certainty he was going to die.
Moving on: Pigge Werkelin survived the tsunami that hit South East Asia in 2004. His wife and two young sons did not. Pigge returned to Sweden where he found life unbearably lonely. He also longed for children and so went looking for a new wife. He talks to Jonathan about how he managed to pick up the pieces and move on.
Trapped on Everest: Lincoln Hall should be dead. He summited Mt. Everest, but on his decent suffered from a cerebral edema that left him unable to move. After trying to revive him, his Sherpa guides assumed he was dead and left him at 8000m (26,000 ft). With no oxygen or help, he tells Jonathan how he survived the night, until another climbing party found him the next morning.
