Korean T-DMB system begins pilot broadcasting in Jakarta

The Korean Ministry of Information and Communication said today that Indonesia started pilot broadcasting in the Jakarta area on 9 March using Korea’s terrestrial DMB platform. Indonesia becomes the third foreign country to trial the system following South Africa and Italy. The Ministry hopes that, if Indonesia adopts T-DMB as its standard, this will establish a bridgehead in Southeast Asia. Indonesia has the world’s fourth highest population (230,000,000).
