Blog Logs

Today's shortwave BLOG LOGS, represent a portion of additional logs recently cut from my SWBC Logs column in Monitoring Times magazine at www.monitoringtimes.com/ due to space constraints. Australia
Radio Australia 9710, 1050-1100.* Comments in Pidgin for Radio Australia's Pacific service. 'Matilda" interval signal at 1058 to 1100 sign-off. (Barker).

Bangladesh
Bangladesh Betar 7250, *1228. Signon with flute interval signal. Time pips at 1230, followed by flute music and muffled talk. Station ID and clear but intelligible English news at 1232. Local flute music at 1238. (Alexander).

Belarus
Belarussian Radio via Minsk 6115, 0720-0745. Local pop music to announcement in listed Belarussian. Signal weak but poor with co-channel interfernce. Much better on // 7170 fair signal. Very weak on // 7110. (Alexander).

Belgium
RTBF International. two lady announcers' animated conversation in French. This is 250 kW for Europe. Signal strong with only minor fading. (Barker).

Bhutan
BBS (presumed) 6035, 1444-1500.* English service including easy-listening music to pop songs in English. Poor signal quality. (Howard).

Chad
RNT, 4904.97, 0644-0720. French and vernacullar text with DJ playing pop Afro pop songs. began with good reception, noted fading by 0650 and was poor around 0700, improved back up to fair by 0710. Signal faded out to very poor by 0720. (Howard)

Clandestine
Firedrake/jamming 7415, 1838-1853. Radio free Asia // 7445 (vs. Radio Asia) // 9000 (vs. SoH) 9355 (vs. Radio Free Asia) (Howard).

China
China Radio International via Xian, *1700-1737. Program carrying domestic China Drive program mostly in English with DJ Mark a Londoner and a Chinese woman in English/Chinese. China Drive is broadcast twice a day, Monday thru Friday. Website is much out of date. Topic of the 'talking about movies and books.Noted on parallel frequencies 6165, 7150, 7205, 7335 and 9570 all mostly fair-good.(Howard).

China National Radio-1 and PBS Qinghai (presumed) 4750, 1437. Observed absence today of both Bangladesh and Indo's RRI. Able to hear clearly two stations, both in Chinese. Believe this is the first time I have heard PBS Qinghai here, as is usually totally covered by Bangladesh and Indonesia. (Howard).

Croatia
Voice of Croatia 3984.90, 2315-2325. Croatia Today program with news, sports and weather update. Local pop music at 2323. Signal weak but readable with occasional amateur radio interference. Signal better on // 7375 via germany. (Alexander).

Israel
Galei Zahal via tel Aviv 6973, 0547-0521. Bugle calls and martial marches. Station ID with music following. (Wood).

Japan
Radio Nikei 3925, 1235-1250. Local music to Japanese talk. Weak signal with amateur radio QRM. Weak signal but in the clear on // 6055. (Alexander).

Malaysia
Suara Islam/Voice of Islam via RTM 6049.60, 1530-1540. Vernacular text for ten minutes, including items about higher education in Malaysia Station ID/address to jingles. Fair signal quality. (Howard).

Morocco
Radio Medi Un. 9575, 0800-0835. Arabic newscast and several canned promos and announcements spots. Switched to French service at 0930. (Barker).

Myanmar
Myanmar Defense Forces BS via Tauggyi 5770, 1438-1528.* Vernacular language programming including talk, pop and indigenous music. Signal mostly fair and enjoyable listening. (Howard).

New Zealand
Radio New Zealand International 11725, 0624. Extremely well done program. Announcer with a range of music from marches to classical tunes. Nice log of NZ, fair signal quality. (Wood).

Syria
Radio Damascus 9330, 1835-1932.* Irregular. Local Middle eastern music to German talk and station ID. French service at 1900. Abrupt sign-off. Strong carrier but low modulation at times. (Alexander).

Yemen
Republic of Yemen radio 9780.14, 1900-2010. Traditional Middle Eastern music to anthem at 2001. newscast amid strong and slight signal distortion. (Alexander).

Zanzibar
Radio Tanzania-Zanzibar 11735, 1800-1810. English "Spice FM" news. Very poor with low modulation and wobbly signal, somewhat distorted audio. (Alexander).
