Many people in Hong Kong believe that a person's success is governed by five factors. These are, in order of importance: Fate, Luck, Feng Shui, Good Deeds and Hard Work.
For a city that's known for its competitive business culture, industrious students and entrepreneurial minds, it seems surprising that hard work comes at the bottom of the list. More important are external factors over which we have little or no control.
Radio-Television Hong Kong producer Erin Bowland explores a culture full of superstitions, rituals and beliefs revolving around the pursuit of success. This program is part of the international documentary series Global Perspective 2007 - focusing on the theme: Belief.
