WASHINGTON - The Broadcasting Board of Governors will meet at the
headquarters of the Middle East Broadcasting Networks in Springfield, Virginia,
on October 8, 2015.
This will be the first meeting of the board since John Lansing joined BBG
as CEO and Director. During the meeting, Under Secretary of State for Public
Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel will have a conversation with Mr.
Lansing to introduce his thoughts and plans for the agency.
The Board will also receive an in-depth presentation by MBN on its
operations and activities in the past year.
The Board will also honor the 65th anniversary of
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty broadcasting in the Romanian
language to Romania and Moldova, the 60th anniversary of Voice of
America's Khmer Service, and it will announce the winners of the 2015 David
Burke Distinguished Journalism Awards.
The public may attend any or all of these
sessions in person by registering here by 12:00 p.m. (EDT) on October 7.
The meeting will also be streamed live on the BBG website, www.bbg.gov.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30
a.m. (EDT). Additional information, including any updates or adjustments to its
starting time, will be posted on the BBG website. Minutes, documents and a video
recording will be available after the meeting concludes.
