Radio Öömrang slated for February 21 broadcast

 


Radio Öömrang in 2025

Every year on February 21, since 2006, Amrum amateur radio operator Arjan Koelzow, has aired an annual broadcast of Radio Öömrang (Radio Amrum) from the North Frisian Island on the German North Sea coast. The special broadcast is aired on the island’s holiday of Bikebrånen and targeted to the descendants of North Frisian immigrants in North America.

Programming is in the local Frisian dialect, Standard German, and English, and tentatively scheduled in 2025 on 15215 (500 kW) at 1600-1700 UTC, relayed from Issoudun, Franc,  brokered by Media Broadcast in Cologne, Germany, and confirmed from sources.

Annual broadcast of Radio Öömrang, set for February 21

 


The annual winter broadcast of Radio Öömrang (Radio Amrum), has been confirmed by Media Broadcast.


The annual program is broadcast on February 21, a North Frisian holiday. The program was founded by the amateur radio operator, Arjan Kolzow on the island of Amrum in North Germany.

The first broadcast was in 2006. Programming is in the North Frisian language (Öömrang dialect), as well as Standard German. Programming is aimed at the descendants of North Frisian immigrants in North America. 

The 2021 broadcast is scheduled for 1600-1700 UTC on 15215 kHz, relayed via Issoudun, France transmitter facilities.

Radio Öömrang revives for a day


If it's February 21, time for the annual broadcast from Radio Öömrang, and if you missed last year, here’s a new opportunity. Once a year on February 21, citizens from one of Germany’s North Frisian Islands, celebrate Bikebrånen, a major North Frisian holiday. 

The first broadcast was founded by amateur radio operator Ajan Kölzow on the island of Amrum in 2006. Annual programs are aimed at the descendants of North Frisian immigrants to North America. 

Programs are presented in English and Standard German with talk and interviews in the North Frisian language of the Öömrang dialect. Programming may be live, or a recording from past editions to celebrate their special day.

The winter 2019 broadcast for Radio Öömrang, is schedule for February 21, 2019,  1600-1700 UTC on 15215 kHz, relayed from the Issoudun, France transmitter.

Radio Öömrang annual February 21 broadcast


Radio Öömrang (“Radio Amrum”) is tentatively scheduled for their annual February 21st broadcast. Each year, on this special day, broadcast are conducted to celebrate the major North Frisian holiday (Biikebrånen).

The initial programs were founded by radio amateur Arjan Kölzow on the island of Amrum in North Germany. The first shortwave broadcast was on 21 February 2006, and have continued their annual programming aimed at the descendants of North Frisian immigrants in North America. Programming is presented bilingually in Standard German and English, including interviews in the North Frisian language, which is part of the Öömrang dialect.

Radio Öömrang will transmit their annual broadcast on Sunday February.21, 2016 from 1600 to 1700 UTC on 15215 kHz in German, English and Frisian.

Broadcast are in North Frisian language (Öömrang dialect) as well as Standard German, including English identifications. Programming is aimed to the descendants of North Frisian immigrants in North America. 

The program was founded by the radio amateur Arjan Kölzow on the island of Amrum in North Germany. The first shortwave broadcast was February 21, 2006. This weekends broadcast will be relayed via the Media Broadcast transmitting facilities in Issoudun, France.

Radio Öömrang annual broadcast



This year, on February 21, 2015, radio hobbyists are gearing up to monitor the annual broadcast from Radio Öömrang ("Radio Amrum") which is a major Frisian holiday.

Programming was originally founded by the radio amateur Arjan Kölzow on the island of Amrum in North Germany. The first program on shortwave was February 21, 2006. Programming is broadcast in Frisian, an Öömrang dialect, as well as broadcasting in Standard German. The annual broadcast is aimed at the descendants of North Frisian immigrants in North America.

English station identifications have been heard as; :this is Radio Öömrang, the free voice of the Frisian people."  Programming is relayed via Media Broadcast facilities.

At this publishing time, final broadcast confirmation has not been received, however as in previous years, the following schedule information is indicated. Any corrected schedule will be posted on this blog.
