Dear DXers,
Several customers have asked about making the Euro mailers and returns with self seal "peal and seal" glue rather than "lick and stick". Seems a few DX stations are asking for them. The cost of peal and seal is higher. There is a more important reason why we will not offer this.
The shelf life of peal and seal glue isn't very long. To get a good price on envelopes, we have a year+ supply made up. Some customers order enough envelopes to last them 1-2 yrs...or longer. Some peal and seal glue can last 2 years before it dries up. So you can see the problem. "Hey Bill! I bought these envelopes last year and they don't seal anymore! What's going on!!"I found an old pack of envelopes, more than 10 years old. The glue still worked.
One of my customers bought out the remaining red bordered airmails that we offered BEFORE introducing the current Euro envelopes in 1994!! He's still using them AND the flap glue STILL seals the envelope.A couple customers have mentioned that a few VE hams have questioned the old VE stamps I supply. Being such old stamps, they think they might be uncancelled stamps being reused. Reusing uncancelled stamps is a problem here in the States.
My only suggestion was to include the Canadian return postage without affixing the stamps to the return envelope, that way, the DX station can see the stamps aren't used ungummed stamps, but just old mint stamps.
One price change:Colombia is now $2.50
Recent postal increases: Australia from $1.85 to $1.95
Ireland from 0,75 to 0,78 euro
Germany from 1,70 euro to 1,75 euro verified on several letters rec'd yet their website still says 1,70
Belgium from 0,80 to 0,90 euro
No price changes for the above postal increases.
Postal DECREASE!!!! France et al from 0,90 to 0,85 euro !
