WRN German service becomes available on Astra digital



WRN has announced that, from April 5th 2007, its German language radio station WRN Deutsch will become available on the Astra digital satellite at 19.2 degrees East.
Gary Edgerton, WRN’s Managing Director, says, “We have been receiving feedback from our German-speaking listeners in Germany, Austria and across Europe, asking when WRN Deutsch was moving to Astra digital. We also know that the German-speaking market is enthusiastically embracing digital satellite so we felt now was the right time to make this important move.”
WRN Deutsch offers listeners daily and weekly shows from international public broadcasters in Europe and around the world. Some of the most popular shows on WRN Deutsch are produced by the German departments of China Radio International, Radio Romania International, Voice of Russia, Korea’s KBS World Radio, Vatican Radio. Polish Radio External Service, Radio Prague, HCJB, Radio Sweden, Radio Budapest, Israel Radio and Radio Slovakia International.
The new technical details for WRN Deutsch on Astra digital are:
Astra 1H at 19.2 degrees East
Transponder 113, 12 633.25 MHz
Polarization: Horizontal
Symbol rate: 22 MSym/s
FEC Rate: 5/6.
WRN Deutsch continues to be available on its existing Astra analogue satellite frequency until 5 June. After this time WRN Deutsch will be available on Astra digital as well as its existing Hot Bird digital satellite channel, which remains unaffected by this change. WRN Deutsch can also continue to be heard across Berlin on 97.2 MHz, via WorldSpace Satellite Radio, on local German cable and on the Web.
