Radio France Int'l launches FM relay station in Mauritius

Text of report by Mauritius newspaper L’Express website on 18 January
Radio France Internationale (RFI) yesterday evening launched its Mauritius branch at the Hotel Sofitel. The prime minister launched the international French radio station, which has been available on 93.2 MHz for three weeks.
RFI will broadcast magazine programmes, reports, in short, what RFI does normally with the advantage being that the Francophone world will now hear more about Mauritius since “RFI is also interested in its listeners”, said its Chief Executive Officer Antoine Schwarz, who was present at the launch.
The agreement between RFI and Mauritius (through the MBC [Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation]) was signed in July (?2006) when the prime minister visited France.
The MBC director-general and chief executive officer will collaborate with RFI, which “represents France and not the French government”, said the chief executive officer.
