Finland: RealMix starts medium wave broadcasts on Saturday!

The broadcasts will be heard on the 1485 kHz AM frequency in Raasepori, in addition to the familiar shortwave frequency of 6005 kHz.

During the testing phase, the transmission power is 15 watts.

In the plans for October, the power will be increased to 250 watts, which will improve the signal range.

Radio Igloo's Christmas specials on shortwave

Next Sunday, December 14, Radio Igloo will be on air with our brand new Christmas program. Tune in to 1620 kHz (or a nearby free frequency) at 19:00 UTC for our new Christmas show.

We will be playing Christmas songs that you don't hear every day on other radio stations or in large supermarkets. We will also talk a bit about special (strange?) Swedish Christmas traditions.

On December 21, with assistance from Finland's Real Mix Radio, we will broadcast on 6195 kHz at 17:00 UTC

RealMix Radio is an interesting station! Set up 19 months ago by Joakim Weckstrom after obtaining a shortwave license to transmit from Finland.

The 1kW longwave transmitter is now ready and a matching unit is currently being built.

The antenna has been a big problem and due to the winter conditions it's unrealistic to expect any station startup before the summer now. The 300kW transmitter that was offered was withdrawn and an extremely high price tag was put on the dismantling and engineering oversight by the communications company. The costs were vastly inflated in order to deter the project from acquiring this transmitter. In fact the costs were double that of a TRAM LW transmitter shipped complete!

Other high-power transmitters may become available in time as decisions have not yet been made about them. The stations interest in these has been conveyed to the companies. In all the amount of communication alone spent on this project is immense. The station is still getting emails from well-wishers and pleas from people to succeed so it drives the project on knowing at least some people will be happy to hear the station on air. 

We would still really need a higher power transmitter so any leads are very welcome no matter how old the transmitter is. MW, LW or SW! We have been offered a 1kW MW transmitter so this will be used for a project that will be announced in a few months. 

Interest in Shortwave broadcasting has also been expressed so if we can find a shortwave transmitter or even a good broadband linear amplifier SW can start very easily.

Finland's RadioRealMix slated for weekend broadcast

 

"According to the new radio license, regular Finland's RealMix Radio broadcasts will be heard again in February on Saturdays and Sundays and the entire last week of February on the frequency 6185 kHz at 0000-2100 UTC

During the spring, maybe (if the economy allows) we will get 250W transmission power, which would improve the signal strength. (Nowadays 100W carrier)

Tune-in to Radio Blacksmith Knoll on August 3 and 4

 

The new low-powered station, Radio Blacksmith Knoll, located in Pori, on the west coast of Finland, the license will be in effect to August 6, 2024. 

The schedule varies: Fridays at 18:05 UTC, with random repeats on Saturdays, targeting the same time as on Fridays, depending on conditions and available frequencies on 6120 ±5 kHz). The carrier turns on at the top of the hour, with the program starting five minutes past the hour.

Radio Piko slated for June 1 premiur broadcast

 

A new shortwave station broadcasting from Asikkala, Finland, is planning for a launch on Saturday June 1st 2024. The name of the station is Radio Piko. 

The currently schedule will be 

14-15 UTC on 9770 for Nordic countries (English, Swedish)

18-19 UTC on 5980 for Finland (Finnish)

Both times in Saturday and Sunday. 

This is a small irregular station and schedule can change rapidly.

Finland's RealMix Radio plans weekend broadcast

 

RealMix Radio is an exciting new radio project based in Raasepori, Finland. This is their studio building!

Recently granted an official broadcasting license, plans are for a broadcast on the first weekend in May 2024. 

The station is using a modest 15-watt transmitter, with future plans for 250 watts. Plans are also underway to expand RealMix’s broadcasting capabilities to include a medium wave frequency. 

Due to the very low power, a Scandinavian Kiwi SDR is recommended.

Finnish radio stations continue to broadcast in the border areas of the Leningrad and Pskov regions

 

This means that Finland can launch an anti-Russian broadcast. According to media reports, the Yule company is already offering vacancies to journalists and is resuming the work of the Russian-language editorial office. This is what I gave you to listen to, an ordinary Finnish radio station that broadcasts here, near Vyborg, and this is not towards the Finnish border, but closer to St. Petersburg. Now, as some of my colleagues told me, who still continue to work practically underground in Finland, supplying information from there, Yule is resuming recruitment of a Russian-language editorial staff, where it can invite, among other things, foreign agents who fled from Russia to Finland. In my opinion, the restoration of broadcasting of our radio stations to Finland takes place not in a musical format, but in a conversational one, so that Russian-speaking residents who live in Finland can receive our information, and not that which is imposed from the outside.
