Radio Taiwan International launches new English website

Radio Taiwan International (RTI) launched a new English web site on Monday (Aug 1), which is also the station's 83rd anniversary.

At a reception Monday, Government Information Office (GIO) Minister Philip Yang urged the national broadcaster to continue its role of promoting Taiwan in the international community.

"RTI has introduced Taiwan's voice and its beauty to the international community. It has played a crucial role in seeking more international support. In this regard, RTI is the government's main supporter and a channel of communication," said Yang.

In a congratulatory message, President Ma Ying-jeou called on RTI to continue to emphasize innovation. He said it should also promote Taiwan's multiculturalism at the same time. Meanwhile, RTI Chairman Chang Jung-kung said RTI is a window on the Republic of China on Taiwan.

"The new English web site launched today is RTI's way of promoting the Republic of China. The website is a bridge that connects RTI and the Republic of China to the rest of the world," said Chang.

Radio Taiwan International launches new webcast

Radio Taiwan International (RTI) has launched a new 30-minute daily webcast in English. The RTI website carries the following information about the program:

“To offer in-depth news, analysis and more feature programs to our listeners world-wide, RTI will be launching a brand new 30-minute webcast called “RTI Plus” starting February 1st. The webcast will include news analysis (a program called Think Tank), the editorial Taiwan Perspectives and features on prominent topical figures in Newmakers. In addition, there are two new feature programs: Soft Power and In Mystical Taiwan.

“Our analysts for Think Tank include Tamkang University International Affairs and Strategic Studies professor Alexander Huang; Chinese Culture University Political Science professor Tai-shuenn Yang; National Chengchi University Banking professor Norman Yin; Taiwan’s former representative to the US, C. J. Chen; and National Central University professor Ho-ching Lee.

“New programs will be available every day on the Internet at 1600 UTC (midnight, Taiwan Time).

“For listeners in Taiwan, you can also tune in to “RTI Plus” from 10:30 to 11:00 on MW 1422, starting February 13th.”
