BBC Radio 2 lost 200,00 listeners

Jonathan Ross, the BBC's highest-paid presenter, lost 200,000 listeners from his Radio 2 radio show this summer as people tuned in to rival stations, according to official figures.

Ross, who earns £6 million a year, pulled in 3.05 million listeners to his Saturday morning programme between July and September.

This compared to 3.25 million in the previous three months and 3.16 million during the same period last year, according to figures from Radio Joint Audience Research (Rajar).

Ross is one of several BBC figures whose pay packets have come under scrutiny as the corporation prepares to make thousands of people redundant.
