Texas Radio Shortwave resumes programming on April 7

 


Texas Radio Shortwave returns to Channel 292 in Rohrbach, Germany, monthly on the first Sunday, beginning April 7.  Programs will air at 1100 UTC on 6070 kHz and 1700 UTC on 3955 kHz.

With TRSW’s extensive program library, listeners will hear shows that weren’t aired in Europe.  April’s and May’s offerings feature music from Texas’s iconic dance halls.  The subject of June’s show hasn’t been determined.

The station welcomes reports from listeners using remote receivers like KiwiSDRs.

Radio Six International scheduled for Sunday broadcast on October 3rd

 

Radio Six International first appeared on shortwave in 2003 and for a number of years provided daily broadcasts, reverting to monthly in 2007 before ending regular transmissions in 2008. But after a few special one-off broadcasts, we resumed regular shortwave programming in the summer of 2020 and currently broadcast on the first Sunday of every month from 12:00 - 13:00 GMT on 3,955kHz from Rohrbach, Germany with a power of 10kW, aimed at listeners in Europe.. Texas Radio Shortwave, October-December broadcast schedules

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TEXAS RADIO SHORTWAVE ANNOUNCES PROGRAM LINEUP FOR REST OF 2020

GULF OF MEXICO, September 19, 2020/ - Texas Radio Shortwave, an American free radio station, today announced its program lineup for October through December 2020.

Texas Radio Shortwave offers programs featuring music by Texas artists, except for some rebroadcasts of programs from its early days. The older programs are clearly identified during the broadcasts.

Programs will air on Channel 292 from Rohrbach, Germany with 10 kW of power. Frequencies and air times -- with one exception -- are 0200 UTC on 9670 kHz and 0900 UTC on 6070 kHz. The exception is Christmas Day, with broadcasts at 0200 UTC on 9670 kHz and 1900 UTC on 6070 kHz.

The lineup for the rest of 2020 looks like this: October 17 - Ladies of Texas Music Special:

November 21 - rebroadcast of Texas Radio Shortwave’s first program from 2019; December 19 -  rebroadcast of the Pre-Christmas Music Special from 2019; and December 25 - the Texas Christmas Music Special.

Texas Radio Shortwave sends limited-edition commemorative electronic verifications to the listeners sending correct, detailed reception reports. The email address is texasradiosw@gmail.com.

Reception reports should include times, song titles, the text of announcements, a SINPO/SIO signal rating, information on the listener’s receiver and antenna, and comments on the program content. For the listeners using a remote software-defined radio (SDR) should mention that. Audio clips are also welcomed.

Listeners worldwide may tune to Texas Radio Shortwave broadcasts using an SDR like the one at the University of Twente in The Netherlands. The URL is http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/.

Texas Radio Shortwave sails in international waters off the South Texas Gulf coast. The programs are broadcast regularly in Europe and occasionally in North America.

Encore-Classical Music schedule update


Dear listener,

Here are details of a one-off broadcast in a few day's time:

Showcase 292 will air with time donated by the station on Radio Channel 292 from Rohrbach, Germany on Monday September 7 from 2100 to 2200 UTC on 3955, 6070 and 9670 kHz.  This is Channel 292’s first collaborative simulcast featuring five music and variety programs that appear on its weekly schedule – Alt Universe Top 40 (rock), Encore (classical music), From the Isle of Music (Cuban music), Uncle Bill’s Melting Pot (world and novelty music) and the Voice of the Report of the Week (listener request music plus commentary).  3955 and 9670 are both new frequencies,  and listeners are encouraged to try them as a DX catch  in eastern Canada and the eastern United States.  A special eQSL will be available from the producer (details will be given during the broadcast).  6070 kHz will of course not be receivable in Canada due to CFRX on the same frequency.

This week's programme begins with part of an oboe concerto and then a couple of songs prompted by Shakespeare's plays Cymbeline and The Tempest. After that we have a duet for violin and viola by Halvorsen and some of Mozart's Flute Quartet in A major. Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture next, followed by a piano trio composed by the 19th century composer Louise Farrenc.
The programme ends with the prelude from The Cunning Little Vixen and as much of Haydn's piano sonata No. 33 as we can fit in.
