QSL Report: February 2015

Shortwave Listener QSL Cards

Shortwave listeners, who are not amateur radio operators, have their own method of QSLing the hams. Listeners gather contact information, and report to the operator, similar to gathering program details from shortwave broadcasters.

Many listener's have their own 'SWL Station' card they send to the hams, which is returned to the listener as verified using the ham's own QSL card. Most of the time, ham operators verify shortwave listener's reports via the ARRL outgoing bureau. Many of the 'SWL' cards, are sent to hams via the ARRL incoming bureau.

In some countries, potential amateur radio operators, are required to gather certain amounts of ham QSL cards via this method as part of the requirements to become an operator in their country. Many shortwave listener's, enclose their unique QSL card, with the reception report to international shortwave broadcasters.
