Hello
friends,
Shortwave
propagation has an interesting artistic effect on many of the images
transmitted on Shortwave Radiogram – including images that are art in the first
place. See what happened to last weekend’s painting as received at
three different locations. See many other examples of decoded images at
@SWRadiogram or https://twitter.com/swradiogram.
Videos of
last weekend’s Shortwave Radiogram (program 67) are provided by Scott in Ontario
(Friday 2030 UTC) and Ralf
in Germany (Saturday 1600 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in
the UK. Analysis of last weekend’s Shortwave Radiogram and other programs
transmitting text and images is prepared by Roger in Germany.
This
weekend’s Shortwave Radiogram will begin with an exercise to eliminate (or at
least reduce) the annoying slant that sometimes is seen on decoded MFSK images.
By eliminating the slant on the first image (an orange vertical rectangle),
images decoded later in the broadcast should be slant-free. See details and examples.
This
weekend’s broadcast will be in our usual combination of MFSK32, MFSK128, and
MFSK64. It includes nine MFSK images, including the rectangular slant test
image near the beginning of the show.
Here
is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 68, 5-8 October 2018, in MFSK modes as noted:
1:36 MFSK32: Program preview
2:45 Slant elimination exercise*
5:29 Zebra mussels colonize
