RNW’s Rob Kievit writes: French radio authority CSA has issued a Restricted Service Licence to Father Christmas. Until 31 December 2008, “la Radio du Père Noël” can be heard with a 50W transmitter on 107.9 MHz in the Marne area in the East of Paris. The Father Christmas radio station is run by the Bleu Pomme foundation, a Paris-based audio and radio marketing company.The format is mainly music with a Christmas connection. There’s a lot of variety, though, with styles ranging from traditionals via gospels to jazz. Even 1980s dance music presented by a DJ is part of the line-up. From time to time commercials are heard. The station has webstreams in various formats on its website, as well as its own online player.
