PARIS — Staff at France's public radio and television stations walked off the job Wednesday to protest President Nicolas Sarkozy's plan to eliminate advertising on their channels.
Public television stations ran other programs in the slot for newscasts _ reruns of "Friends" replaced one morning news show. Radio stations played music and messages explaining the strike.
