Israel Broadcasting Authority funding crisis and cuts in broadcast

The www.israelradio.org website - which describes itself as an independently produced and privately supported guide to the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) radio networks - carries the following announcement:

“IBA Funding Crisis and Cuts in Broadcasts:

“Due to a serious deficit at the IBA many cuts in services have been made. From 26 July 2007 the only programme produced for an overseas audience is the one in Persian. All other language broadcasts are produced only for Israeli audiences and aired via the REKA network.

“In addition, Israel Broadcasting Authority TV and Radio services are no longer available on the Hot Bird satellite that could be received in Europe the Middle East and beyond.

“The IBA now uses the Amos satellites that can be received only in Israel.”
