Critics of the gold mining industry describe it as one of the world's dirtiest industries: it's alleged to fuel conflict and destroy communities, and it can devastate the environments from which the metal is extracted. However others, such as the World Gold Council say the economic and social value gold mining brings to developing countries is often overlooked - whilst NGOs and others are too willing to point out the shortcomings of the industry.
Do you think consumers have the right - and the responsibility - to know where has it been sourced and by whom? And does the gold mining industry need to clean up its act or not?

"Paradise Lost"
Haiti is considered a classic example of state failure, a country that's unable to control its territory and unable to provide the most basic services to its people, even in the capital Port-au-Prince.
Health care is a serious problem. Justice, education, water supply, sewage and electricity are virtually non-existent. Many of the capital's slums are controlled by armed gangs. Elections were held last year, and a new government is now in place. For the first time in many years, there's hope in Haiti.
