Get ready for a change!
Deutsche Welle is going to switch all its African satellite broadcasting operations from Intelsat 10-02 (IS10-02) to Atlantic Bird 3 (AB 3).
But don't worry there'll be simultaneous transmissions for two months (from August 1st to September 30th). That means you have enough time to adjust your equipment. So it adds up to this: well stop our transmission via Intelsat 10-02 (IS10-02) on 30 September 2006. Please make sure you've shifted your reception hardware to Atlantic Bird 3 (AB 3) by then.
Tomorrows technology today
You can see at a glance that Atlantic Bird 3 (AB 3) combines light-weight versatility with heavy-weight performance:
Position: 5 West
Frequency: 3,727 GHz (or 3727 MHz)
Polarization: right hand circular polarization/RHCP
Symbol rate: 29.950 Msymbols/s (Ms/s)
FEC: 7/8
Video Standard: PAL
All it takes to enjoy good reception is a dish diameter of approximately 2 metres and a digital satellite receiver. The hardware you already use to receive Deutsche Welle on Intelsat 10-02 (IS10-02) will, in most cases, work perfectly on Atlantic Bird 3 (AB 3). But its important for you to adapt your hardware to the above parameters until September 30th.
